The Village’s Climate Smart Communities Task Force has released two reports related to the task force’s ongoing efforts to attain CSC Bronze Level certification.
The first document, “Village of Lansing Building Energy Use (2019-2024),” reports the tracked energy use of the Village’s government buildings. By tracking the utility bill data in the State’s Energy Star Portfolio Manager, the public can observe the trends in energy consumption at the Village Offices/Hall and the Village DPW building.
The second report, “Village of Lansing Waste Reduction Opportunities,” offers two opportunities to reduce waste within the Village. Reducing waste is an important step to creating a more sustainable community to live in. The first opportunity is the Village’s participation in the food scraps drop-off spot run by the Tompkins County Recycling and Materials Management every Saturday morning from 10 AM-1 PM. The second opportunity is “The Fixers Collective,” which offers free repair of household items like electronics, furniture, small appliances, and more every Saturday from 3 PM to 5 PM at the ReUse Megacenter at the Triphammer Marketplace.
