Village of Lansing
MINUTES of a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Lansing held on Wednesday, June 16, 1999, in the Village Office.
Present: Mayor, Don Hartill, Trustees John Caren, Larry Fresinski, Lynn Leopold; Ben Curtis, Jodi Dake, Michael Newport, Rick Beckwith and Dennis Reinhart.
Mayor Donald Hartill called the meeting to order at 12:13pm and went around the table to hear everyone’s comments.
Rick Beckwith stated that things were going well and that they were getting caught up on their work. Don asked if they would be cutting the tall grass along the roads. The County can do it in July. The County won’t let the Village borrow their machine again. The last two times we’ve borrowed it it broke down. It is an old machine and only two people from the County use it. The Village could also borrow from the Village of Cayuga Heights but Rick feels we should really consider getting our own. Mayor Hartill asked Dennis to check with Pete at the Town of Lansing to see if they have one we can use.
Ben Curtis stated that he had contacted the Mayor and Larry previously regarding the Time Warner situation. Ben called the cable consultant and suggested an encroachment agreement. Time Warner is looking for permits. Randy Marcus will look into this.
Ben went to Syracuse to a State GIS Session. He stated that most of our GIS data comes from the County. There is a NYS data share coop that we can join. The Mayor stated that the problem with this would be the amount of storage space we would need. Ben didn’t think we needed any storage space that the State has a GIS clearing house we would link onto.
We are in our busy season. June 29th will be the final approval of the Hotel based on drainage issues. Thornwood Drive will be completed. The Mayor asked if the hotel has applied for sewer permits yet. They have not. Ben would like to have Greg Bronson come in as a consultant for the Village to give a proposal for video conferencing in the boardroom. The Mayor had previously granted him permission to look into this at the May 12th meeting.
Larry Fresinski stated that he has added links to Ithaca Teen, Public Service Commission & Solid Waste Site to our website.
Mayor Hartill has received positive responses from about half of the N. Triphammer Property owners. If he doesn’t hear from the rest of the property owners by next week he will send another letter out. Don is meeting with DEC on Monday with joint sewer. The sewer agreement is about one month behind the water agreement.
Dennis stated that a contractor is coming in to lay the lines for running electricity to the Village of Lansing post by the road. We will have spotlights for the Village sign and the flag. The Mayor approved Dennis’s request to get he, Rick & Jay vaccinations for Lime Disease. Paul, from the YMCA, has donated flowers for our flowerbeds around the Village Office. Dennis will send him a thank you note and suggested we put something in the next newsletter or on our webpage. The Mayor also approved Dennis getting caller ID for their cell phones for $2.95/phone/month.
