Village of Lansing

Planning Board Meeting

February 22, 2005

The meeting of the Village of Lansing Planning Board was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Chairman Ned Hickey.  Present at the meeting were Planning Board Members Doris Brown, Phil Dankert and Maria Stycos; Trustee Liaison Lynn Leopold; and members of the public.

Public Comment:

Hickey opened the Public Comment period.

As there was no one who wished to speak, Brown moved to close the Public Comment period.  Seconded by Stycos.  Ayes by Brown, Dankert, Hickey and Stycos.  Motion carried.

Comprehensive Plan – Review Comments:

The first item on the agenda was the final review of the Comprehensive Plan.  With a few minor changes, new cover, index and list of supporting documents, the Comprehensive Plan was approved and will be forwarded to the Board of Trustees.

Public comments on the plan were limited to previous comments on traffic by resident Sorel Gottfried and on public transportation by resident Val Gyrisco.  In order to extend the bus service to Cayuga Heights Road, residents would need to petition TCAT.  It was suggested that if residents of Cayuga Heights were also included there might be enough potential riders to warrant the extension.

The list of housing costs with number of houses built each year compiled by Ben Curtis has already proved useful.  When Hickey was asked to predict the number of houses to be built in the Village (in conjunction with school redistricting), Hickey gave the well documented answer of “ten a year”.

In connection with traffic concerns in Lansing Trails I, John O’Neill of 53 Janivar Drive gave the Board a list of school bus stops.  O’Neill also made useful suggestions concerning the trail system.

Goals 2005:

Goals 2005 were approved with emphasis on the Greenway Plan.  The entire plan should be reviewed including all current and future walkways.

Adjournment:

Dankert moved to adjourn at 8:05 P.M.  Seconded by Stycos.  Ayes by Brown, Dankert, Hickey and Stycos.  Motion carried.
