Village of Lansing
Highlights of 2000
The process of right of way acquisition for the N. Triphammer Road Reconstruction
Project is almost complete. An important component of that project, five
new, coordinated traffic lights are in place. The traffic light at the
intersection of N. Triphammer and Graham Roads was paid by Tops. A right-turning
lane from Sevanna Park onto North Triphammer is planned for spring.
The program for maintaining and rebuilding portions of the 15 miles of
roads within the Village continues. Pedestrian needs have a high priority
in the project design: the sidewalk along Sheraton Drive has been built,
Uptown Road has been reconstructed, and a new traffic light at the intersection
of Warren and Uptown Roads is in process.
New sewer units have been issued. We have found a way to provide sufficient
sewer units for our needs until a regional solution to waste water treatment
has been found.
A more cost-effective, efficient, way of providing water for the present
customers of Bolton Point, Cornell University and the City of Ithaca is
being negotiated.
The Planning Board is working with landscape architects, Village residents
and business owners to develop a plan for low traffic commercial districts.
The Board is continuing efforts to improve its communication with the residents.
